The sarw, the cypress, worked in counted cross-stitch. The oldest motif in Palestinian embroidery and the one most often placed at the chest panel of a bridal thob. Because it is counted stitch by stitch it is stepped rather than curved, and we keep that stepping in the copper rather than smoothing it into an illustration.
